A little bit about me personally

After spending years in the area for school, I developed a deep connection to DFW and set down roots with my husband. I’m a proud mom of two kiddos and fur parent to our crazy calico cat.

I have a special place in my heart for postpartum mamas and those couples and families that have experienced infertility and/or infertility treatments. As a woman who has experienced infertility and IVF, my practice has become focused in this area. This lived experience is what shaped my mission to offer whole family support to others walking similar paths.

And a little bit about me professionally

My approach blends emotionally focused therapy, family systems work, and trauma-informed care to help you feel supported and understood. I’m especially passionate about walking with clients through postpartum changes, medical challenges, and relationship stress, because I know how isolating these seasons can feel.

  • I received my master's degree in Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. I have a Ph.D. in Medical Family Therapy from Saint Louis University.

    • I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor in the state of Texas.

    • I am LMFT in Missouri where I offer telehealth therapy for clients residing there.

    • I am a LMFT in Hawaii where I offer telehealth therapy for clients residing there.

  • I completed my doctoral internship in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

  • I am a Clinical Fellow with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am trained in both EMDR and Child Centered Play Therapy. I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor when I am not in the therapy room I can be found doing supervision or teaching.

As a medical family therapist I know that sexual health and functioning is an important and underserved area of health. Especially for those struggling with infertility, new parents, and those with busy young families. I am currently working towards continued education that will allow me to become a better sex therapist.

What is Medical Family Therapy?

Medical Family Therapy (MedFT) is a specialty that addresses the emotional and relational implications of medical diagnoses within families, couples, and individuals.

MedFT is not yet a widely known specialty (I am one of the only therapists in Texas who offers this!). So what does this look like in practice?

I help families, couples, and individuals process or adjust to a recent or ongoing medical diagnosis. Think of it as a bridge between you and your medical team. My aim is to help you feel equipped and empowered to get the most out of your medical care.

I help with issues such as:

  • Infertility

  • Sexual dysfunction

  • Cancer

  • Diabetes

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Kidney disease

  • Heart failure

I might be a good fit for you If you, your partner, or family is struggling to make sense of, grieve, or find balance after a diagnosis.

Why I Do This Work

I became a therapist because I’ve seen how much strain medical challenges, infertility, postpartum changes, and relationship stress can put on families. My own journey as a partner, parent, and therapist taught me that these transitions don’t have to break us, they can also be places of growth, connection, and healing. I believe no one should have to face them alone.

That belief is what led me to found Resilient Roots Counseling. I wanted to create a practice where complex issues could be met with comprehensive, compassionate care. Too often, when you’re struggling with something like an acute medical diagnosis, new parenthood, or infertility, the support you receive from healthcare providers just barely skims the surface. And in today’s healthcare system, insurance often dictates the kind of care people receive—leaving the deeper emotional and relational impact unaddressed.

At Resilient Roots, we recognize that when you’re facing challenges like these, it impacts every part of your life and the lives of those around you. That’s why our work doesn’t just stop at symptoms—we focus on strengthening the whole system: you, your relationships, and your family.

Why Resilient Roots?

I use the word “resilient” because as a fellow member of the human race, I know that sometimes we get dealt a shitty card (even though we want nothing more than to be in control of the deck).

What I hope to do in my work is help you thrive anyway.

To feel worthy, valuable, and lovable no matter what (and no matter what society may tell you).

I chose the word “roots” because to become truly resilient, we need to reach deep and change from the bottom up. It’s not an easy thing to do, and it can’t be done alone-you’ll need community and connection. And that’s why we’re here.

I am committed to helping my clients build resilience, cultivate stronger connections and to advocate for their physical, mental, and spiritual health.

If you are…

  • A couple, family, or individual navigating fertility challenges, postpartum changes, or intimacy concerns

  • A couple or individual that has experienced a traumatic pregnancies and/or birth.
