Sarah Eck - Counseling for Couples, Families, and Individuals in North Texas
Counseling Student Intern supervised by Dr.Kristin Ross, LMFT-S
Congrats on taking this step. I’m glad you’re here.
I’m Sarah
Life's most difficult challenges often affect not just individuals, but entire relationships and families. My goal is simple: to help you and your loved ones move from feeling stuck and disconnected when life gets hard to experiencing genuine understanding, stronger bonds, and hope for the path ahead.
Therapy for Coping with Medical Challenges
The heartbreak of infertility, adjusting to chronic illness, or moving through the physical and emotional changes of menopause can feel isolating. Grappling with a medical challenge can create distance, misunderstanding, and pain between the people who matter most to each other. You don’t have to face these challenges alone or in silence.
Our work together will focus on helping you reconnect. I provide a compassionate space where couples and families can be vulnerable, learn to support each other more effectively, and discover the resilience they didn’t know they had. My approach focuses on creating mutual understanding, building practical coping skills that actually work in daily life, opening up new ways of communicating that feel honest and authentic, and creating the closeness you’ve been missing.
Counseling for Caregivers
Caregiving is one of the most demanding roles anyone can take on, yet it’s work that often goes unrecognized and unsupported. Whether you’re caring for an aging parent, a partner with chronic illness, or a family member with special needs, the emotional, physical, and mental toll can be overwhelming. I work with caregivers who are struggling with exhaustion, grief, guilt, resentment, or the simple weight of doing too much for too long.
In our sessions, we focus on what you need—not just what everyone else needs from you. Together, we’ll develop strategies to manage stress, set boundaries that protect your well-being, and process the complex emotions that come with caregiving. You’ll learn how to ask for help, make space for your own needs without guilt, and find moments of peace even in the chaos of ongoing demands. Caregiving doesn’t have to mean losing yourself.
A Bit About Me
I'm a Kansas City native who has called DFW home for more than 20 years. I'm a mom to twin boys and a very furry dog, a breast cancer survivor, a former marketing executive, and an amateur tea connoisseur who takes her Sencha quite seriously.
Before pursuing my counseling education at Southern Methodist University, I spent over two decades in marketing, where I became deeply curious about human behavior—what motivates us, what we need, and how we make decisions. But it was my own experiences with infertility, IVF, and cancer treatment that changed everything. Those journeys showed me firsthand how isolating and overwhelming these challenges can be, and how desperately couples and families need compassionate, informed support as they navigate them. Now, it's both an honor and a privilege to walk alongside others facing similar paths, offering the understanding and warmth I wish I'd received.
Is This You?
I might be the right counselor for you if you are:
A Couple
Exploring how parenthood, infertility, menopause, or other significant changes impact your relationship.
A Family
Adjusting to a new diagnosis, addressing substance use, or experiencing conflict.
A Caregiver
Navigating the demands of caring for a loved one along with your own needs, desires, and identity.
An Adult
Working to improve the relationships you have with those who matter most to you, including yourself.
If you’re navigating change—or carrying the weight of life’s challenges—I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
